Pending the conclusion of USAF's current tenure in Korea, USAAC and
elements from USAF will once again be deploying, however to two
operational areas. Myself and Snowman drew up some rough objectives and
itineraries for the deployments, they are as follows:
1.) Kanadahar, Afghanistan (Task Force Relentless Vanguard)
(Travel dates: August 22-23, September 19-20. Dates in Operational Area: August 23-September 19.)
Deployed Units:
USAAC: 1-82, 1-17 (KAF or Forward operating bases)
USAFAMC: 17 ALS (2 Airframes), 91 ARS (KAF, Dubai, or Rammstein)
USAFSOC: 16 SOS (KAF or Forward operating bases)
USAFACC: 308FS (KAF)
Mission:
1-82, 1-17, 16 SOS, and 308FS will be engaged in general air-to-ground Close Air Support and Air Interdiction missions. 308FS will also perform routine Combat Air Patrols over the western border of Afghanistan with Iran.
17 ALS will be responsible for ferrying USAAC's equipment from Charleston AFB to Kandahar. 17 ALS will be responsible for performing a WEEKLY resupply/medevac flight between Kandahar and Dubai, UAE or Rammstein AFB, Germany.
91 ARS will either assist 308FS with refueling on the Air Patrols (KC-135), or assist 17 ARS in thier weekly supply runs (C-135)
2.) South Korea (Task Force Hopeful Ranger)
(Travel dates: August 22-23, September 19-20. Dates in Operational Area: August 23-September 19.)
Deployed Units:
USAAC: 1-101, 7-101 (Camp Eagle, Camp Casey, Seoul or Osan)
USAFAMC: 17 ALS (2 Airframes) 3 ALS (Camp Casey, Camp Eagle, Seoul, Osan or Misawa)
USAFSOC: 8 SOS, 66 RQS (Camp Casey, Seoul, Osan or Forward operating bases)
Mission:
7-101, 8 SOS, 66 RQS, and 17 ALS will be engaged in humanitarian supply operations within SK boundaries (unescorted) or NK boundaries (escorted). May also assist in special operations insertion within NK, SAR off the coast/over land, or resupply of US/SK bases along the border. There will be WEEKLY flights from the border to Seoul/Osan to Rendezvous with 17 ALS/3 ALS flying to Misawa.
17 ALS and 3 ALS will be responsible for ferrying USAAC/AFSOC equipment from Charleston AFB to Osan AB. 17 ALS/3 ALS will be responsible for performing a WEEKLY resupply/medevac flight between Osan/Seoul and Misawa AB.
Predeployment training will be arranged by applicable MAJCOM staff in the near future. You can expect training to begin NLT 3 weeks
